Think on the horror Rehn and Falise experienced upon discovering the evil of their only true child! Even to end an abomination such as Erise would be in opposition to all that they cherish and would break the balance. Thus, they built a prison and placed him there for all eternity.
See? What is made cannot always be unmade, but it can be broken. Thus it is with prophecy.
